Happy Holidays!

Firstly I must apologise for being completely rubbish in keeping the blog up to date, the last couple of months have been really busy and I have been struggling to find the time to sit down and apply myself to anything other than a cup of coffee...Ella's social calendar before Chistmas was something to behold, to be quite honest my daughter has a better social life than either myself or Greg. We had an amazing Christmas at my mum's - who spoilt us rotten and gave Greg and I a couple of much needed lie ins, whilst entertaining Ella and her many new toys. I think mum now needs to retire to a dark room and have some "alone" time...

It was lovely being up there because I got to catch up with a couple of old friends in Far Dawn and Meehan, mum's two horses. Far Dawn came to me to be rehabilitated from a tendon injury before I started training, he went on to win over fences and Meehan was a star for me, winning 3 over fences, He could have been really quite good but he broke down at Market Rasen and is lucky to be alive, he is now the apple of Mum's eye and both he and Dawny are spoilt rotten, as they should be.

The horses are in good order, some are having a break and some are getting ready to run again. We ran a few before Christmas but they were a little disappointing, however there were reasons and we shall forget those runs, look forwards to better days. Heroes or Ghosts ran a blinder and finished a very nice second in a good race at Lingfield, he is in to run again tomorrow but I have just seen that the ground is good good to firm in places....so I will speak to the owners before we decide what to do.

Free One continues to impress me, he is a legend of a horse to ride and jumps for fun, he has strengthened up and eats everything he gets, which makes my life easier. He is now owned in partnership between myself and Peter Skinner, who had a horse with me last year, unfortunately she had too many problems to be cope with racing, here's hoping Freebee can give him some luck.

The mornings have been so cold, days like today we have to sit and wait for it to thaw before we can get to the gallop, it is like an ice rink out of the yard and on the road, luckily we have the school to keep us cantering whatever the weather. However such cold mornings give us the most amazing sun rises (when its not foggy!) and makes me glad to be alive!
