Another month goes by.
The last few weeks have been busy (where is time going so fast??!!) and I never seem to get time to sit and write - or i'm just lazy... However we ran John Biscuit last week in a boy's race at Wincanton and I really thought that he would win, the young lad we had up on him Harry Teal gave him a great ride and learnt a lot from it. JB finished 5th beaten 4 lengths from the winner, which gave us hope that he will win soon, I may run him back on the flat now he is enjoying his racing again.
John Biscuit before his race
Starfoot ran on Saturday in a competitive handicap at Warwick, whilst I was sitting in the lorry before the race the heavens opened - it was like a monsoon and the ground changed from Good to good to soft with soft places and it definitely stopped him showing his best, he finished 6th. Never mind there will be easier options during the summer, he has come back a little sore so we will give him some time to get over it.
Our new boys Bill and Marmont are thriving, Bill is having a break now and will be back in work late June, he is doing nothing but growing at the moment and should be a better horse for the time to mature now he has been to pre school.
Marmont is proving to be a lovely horse, he has lost the bit of attitude that he came with and is now doing everything that is asked of him without turning a hair, including loving his jumping. I am looking forwards to running him over the summer and think he could be a lovely juvenile hurdler, we are selling shares so please do mention him to anyone you think may be interested.
Mr F is having a well earned break in the field, he is such a character and neighs all morning until we turn him out, Willy Brennan went for his first schooling session on Friday and jumped brilliantly, he should be ready for a run in a couple of weeks.
Captain Flash schooled very well too and hopefully he will get in on Wednesday at Worcester back over hurdles, I would love to give him a confidence boost after hating his run at Ludlow.
We also have quite a few getting over niggles and hoping that they are going to be riding out from next week, looking forwards to it...
